Wanting what's on the other side of the fence

It occurred to me this morning that part of the allure to running is wanting what's on the other side of the fence, literally.  We all want to be healthy, look good, and achieve a fitness level that allows us to participate in all of our favorite activities with gusto.  But it is possible in our zealousness to be too fervent.  We each need to know our personal limits and how hard we should push before looking for other avenues to achieve our goals.  Every runner knows the feeling of going beyond the point of "hard", and the exhilaration of exceeding our own personal expectations. This morning I read a story about a young man whose running expectations had fatal consequences. It's worth clicking on the link below, and then reviewing our own personal goals to be certain that the road to achieving our objectives is challenging, achievable, and beneficial.
